[Missions are stupid. They're harrowing and dangerous and only ever give volunteers a glimpse into the world outside the Luceti compound. And Robin's spent a month working in one, providing services for evil people and feeling dirty the entire time.

So naturally there's an experiment when he gets back. Because of course there's an experiment. It's hard to research current events with all the chaos happening everywhere, leaving Robin feeling painfully uninformed in terms of his usual ~~stalking~~ accuracy.

It's customary for Robin to filter things when he uses the journal. It's a tool of their captors, and important to keep as low of a profile as possible when utilizing its services. The problem he hasn't quite realized yet is that the journal has helpfully autocorrected the spelling in his proper names, effectively breaking the filters and leaving his messages open for all to see. It's annoying and something he's having difficulty fixing. How nice to be back in Luceti.]

[....Okay, that didn't go well at all. He'll huff and try to make a beeline for Community House 5 instead, sidestepping the chaos overtaking most of town. He might get sidetracked through someone's garden or by colliding into an exceptionally frantic person-running-late, but eventually he'll make it back to his apartment.

He might make a few door-related missteps though. Apologies if he's stepped into your bathroom or out of your bedroom closet.]

[As long as Robin doesn't really backflip out the window or something, he's golden. Billy eyes the doorway to his bedroom dubiously. He's still not public about the whole super powers thing, but this is Robin. He's the last guy anyone would expect to toss the information around.]

Did you, ah- just want me to teleport you to your place? It might work better than chancing the door.

Powers are generally affected during experiments. Have you tried teleporting since it started? [It's not that Robin doesn't trust the offer. It's more that he doesn't trust anything.]

It was working yesterday. [Though now he's a little worried. His powers were hard enough to control on their own, but if the experiment was messing with them, that could cause all sorts of problems. Dangerous ones at that.]

That was yesterday. Don't take it personally, but I trust my chances with the fire escape more.

[Even though he's not exactly heading for a window with a fire escape attached. Robin makes his own. Ain't no thang.]

...Well, okay. Don't say I didn't offer.

[Man, and he didn't even get a hello. Why do people who hate socializing keep showing up in his place?]

[SEE HE'S GOT MANNERS. Sometimes. When he feels like it.]

No proble- wait, uh- that's not where the fire escape is. [Following again. Where the heck is he going? He knows that's the wrong way, right...?]

Testing a theory. The unaffected windows seem to be the ones not normally used for travel.

Ah, that makes sense. Most people can't just jump out a window and fly wherever they want to go. Or- [Use Bat-gear-] ...Climb, or something.

That's what I'm hoping. If I end up back in the middle of town, I'll make sure you get a chance to say "I told you so."

[Okay, that makes his lips quirk.]

Uh-oh, do I look like the kind of guy who would gloat like that?

Robin gives him a half-smile and hoists himself up onto the windowsill --

--and proceeds to come somersaulting back out of Billy's fireplace, filthy and coughing.]

[That... did not work out as planned, did it? Billy hears the coughing from the other side of the doorway, hurrying through it to check what's going on-

-but passing through the doorway is exactly what he shouldn't have done, and it causes him to teleport as well... right into the fireplace, tumbling out behind Robin. Look out, he's on a collision course!]

[NOPE. NOT PREPARED FOR THIS. Billy plows into Robin, ultimately pinning him against the previously-clean floor, which is now fairly blackened by sooty bodies rolling around on it.]

... I hate experiments.

[...Well... at least he's still in the apartment? Billy groans quietly and rolls off with a muffled apology, stretching out with his back against the floor. Now he'll have to clean, great.]

You're not alone on that. Still think the window's better than teleporting?

[Robin struggles back to his feet, , brushing the filth off his cape.]

Teleporting's sounding a lot better now, sure.

[Billy coughs out a bit of the soot, trying to clear his throat. It's hard to chant when you're wheezing around the words.]

What's your apartment? I need a location first.

[SUDDEN DILEMMA. Robin doesn't share his apartment number with anyone.]

It's. downstairs.

[So awkward. What is trust.]

[...Wow, this is like prying teeth. SIGH.]

If you give me the floor number I can take you down, but you'll have to walk through a door to get inside.

[He's not going to argue about it, but... well. Fair warning to you?]

[...Wow, doesn't he feel honoured. Billy lets his lips quirk into a smile, shaking his head and raising his hands, a blue glow appearing both between his fingers and in his eyes.]

[Aaaand they should be teleporting. Try not to throw up.]

[But. ... 8 and 17 are two very different numbers, Billy. Do you have a problem with listening comprehension?

Robin's fine with the teleportation process. And honestly? It's a lot smoother than some of the magical rides he's been on. So he'll accept the teleportation like it ain't no thang, but there is no humor in his expression when they land. Instead, he darts away from Billy to disconnect the dart gun presently attempting to fire at them. BRB. Don't go exploring or anything, kid.]

[He tries to stand still, he really does, but as the magic fizzles away and Robin wanders off, Billy leans over a bit, taking a half-step forward as if to follow. It's only then that he notices what Robin is doing and- holy god is that a gun.]

...You really don't mess around, do you?

[Not a lethal gun! It's only loaded with tranqs.]
