[Oh, is it December? Robin's spent the post-Thanksgiving weeks holed up in his apartment struggling to piece together the bigger picture. Joker was here. He's spent seventeen Luceti months stuck here without any real progress to show for it. Things are as bad as they were on day one, which is clearly a failing of Robin himself. And lo, he's fallen back into his brooding. With Jason here to wear the Robin suit and scour for petty street crime (that never even happens), Robin only needs to monitor the journals. And plan. There's so much planning. Planning isn't even something that needs to happen in direct sunlight.

It means he hasn't been outdoors since the last time someone dragged him out. Even his usual sessions with Aang and Jason have been set aside in favor of his obsessing. They won't need to learn how to fight better if he can just crack the secret of getting them out. And if the Joker's here, then the Joker's in league with Slade. Or maybe he's not and Slade is just using this pocket dimension as a way to be rid of all his competition at once.

...Which brings him back to the journal. There are just some things that can't be learned without directly interaction with the subject base.]

What was the last thing you did at home before you were brought here?

[It's just an afterthought into the ether. No greetings, no explanations, no introductions. There's no time for that. He's much more concerned with working out filters to throw on the replies as they come in.]

Well, all over the place. I don't think he knows I've been looking for him, but he's always on the move. See, sometimes, I check the apartments that are supposed to be empty, and they are. Mostly. But there's little things, like burns or stains on the rugs. Like the kinds that chemicals make.

[It's really more a matter of what constitutes being "done".]

He's already had more than enough time to create gallong of whatever he's working on. We should start getting people prepared for the worst.

You think so? I mean, he is just one guy... [No henchmen to worry about, at least, so that was a plus.] But how do we do that?

I don't know -- don't panic everyone. Just inform the ones who can handle themselves. I can't -- not until I figure out the connection to Slade. I'm almost there...

[See, funny thing about that— But no, wow, what does that Slade guy have to do with anything? Maybe this weird obsessing behavior is getting to him more than he thought.]

[Slade's behind everything ever duh. Robin probably just hasn't shared that very important factoid yet because people always look at him like he's crazy when he brings it up.

He's not crazy, by the way. He's just the only one who understands what's going on here.]

Who says he doesn't? Enough people know about us. The intel's not hard to track down if he's paying attention.

Yeah, but I think if he did, he'd have tried to do something sooner just to get Batman's attention.

[Even if this should be Batman's problem. It's his dirty laundry that's taken up residence.]

[He is actually like 98% sure that the Joker doesn't even care they exist, soooo.]

[Only as a negotiation tool. Robin spent most of his preteen years hearing various permutations of "do it or the boy dies". It generally sucked.]

He'd be in the same place we are. He wouldn't have run this investigation any differently.

You don't think he would've been a bit more... upfront? [Because he totally does. But then, he shrugs.] I guess it doesn't really matter, though. We're the ones who're stuck dealing with him now.

[No. Not good times.]

If he wanted innocents to die, he would be. [Robin's plan is INFALLIBLE. INFALLIBLE..] But we're still going to stop him.

[...maybe he should have expected that answer. Dick sure doesn't seem to like being wrong. But oh well. Jason doesn't seem too bothered by this.]

Of course we will. I'm already looking forward to it.

[He can handle being wrong. It's just that he never is.]

[He shrugs.]

I just wanna give him a good punch for someone who can't anymore.

[Not that everything Dick says is something he should listen to. He learned that pretty quick. But still.]

Well.. [He flips through the journal.] There are a few mentions in entries from a few years back about a jail they'd been constructing. It was down in the tunnels where the power cap is highest. There's just not a lot of publicly available information.

Think we should try asking about it? I mean, maybe someone still remembers it. But it's gotta be really good if it's gonna keep a guy like that away for more than a few hours.

We can't go too public with it. We'll just raise suspicion.

I guess that's true. [It probably wouldn't be a problem if they knew who else they should be keeping an eye out for. He tilts his head. Hmm...] I guess all we can do is check it out ourselves.
