ᴙ 07 [Action-ish/Written]

[Oh, is it December? Robin's spent the post-Thanksgiving weeks holed up in his apartment struggling to piece together the bigger picture. Joker was here. He's spent seventeen Luceti months stuck here without any real progress to show for it. Things are as bad as they were on day one, which is clearly a failing of Robin himself. And lo, he's fallen back into his brooding. With Jason here to wear the Robin suit and scour for petty street crime (that never even happens), Robin only needs to monitor the journals. And plan. There's so much planning. Planning isn't even something that needs to happen in direct sunlight.

It means he hasn't been outdoors since the last time someone dragged him out. Even his usual sessions with Aang and Jason have been set aside in favor of his obsessing. They won't need to learn how to fight better if he can just crack the secret of getting them out. And if the Joker's here, then the Joker's in league with Slade. Or maybe he's not and Slade is just using this pocket dimension as a way to be rid of all his competition at once.

...Which brings him back to the journal. There are just some things that can't be learned without directly interaction with the subject base.]

What was the last thing you did at home before you were brought here?

[It's just an afterthought into the ether. No greetings, no explanations, no introductions. There's no time for that. He's much more concerned with working out filters to throw on the replies as they come in.]

[So once Jason's finished doing stalkery things that night, he makes his way back to their apartment building. He doesn't bother to knock on the window or anything (in fact, it's more fun if he can manage to sneak up on him), and despite what Dick had said earlier, he's still careful—just in case the window is still rigged and he lied, or maybe if there's something else near the window that might trip him up instead.

Better safe than sorry, after all. Besides, he wouldn't put doing any of that past him.]

[What do you even mean, Jason? Of course the window is armed. That's what he meant when he said it was reset.

But by all means, do what you do. He's packed up in his windowless monitoring room anyway. He'll even try to look surprised when Jason gets there.]

[~~wow, I pay so much attention!!~~ It'll probably take a bit, but really, this is so much more fun compared to stalking people. (Even if he'd still totally do it anyway.) It's not hard to figure out where Dick would be, either, but these apartments don't really give much room for sneaking around... Oh well. He was expecting him anyway, so no loss.

At least he's quiet all the way up until he finds him.]

[Robin looks about as well as he's been looking lately. He's got that "no direct sunlight in a month" pallor, that ~~hideous~~ ~~patchy~~ stubble, and undereye puffiness so serious it's starting to be visible under his mask in a way only another robin would be able to recognize. It's that "all the all-nighters" look. He hasn't even gelled his hair properly, indirectly giving him a slightly more Nightwing-ish look. Sort of.

[Holy inferiority complex, Batman—! He probably shouldn't be surprised by this kind of reaction by now, but he is. It's just not what he's used to.]

It was a joke. Remember those? [Jeez, talk about wound up.] You know, I kinda get the feeling you've been working a little too hard, Robin.

[SPEAKING of jokes. . .]

Did you find the Joker yet? Do you at least have some idea of what he's planning??

[Maybe Jason's not wound tightly enough.]

[Okay, you know what? This is getting ridiculous. He frowns.]

I might tell you if you'd listen to me for once. Remember what you told me before? About how you'd need to be told before you'd rest?

I don't need to rest. I can handle this. I'll sleep after we put him away.

You always say that. I'm not doubting you, but you don't look so good. That's all I'm sayin'. [Well, that, and he's kind of being an ass.] I haven't found him, but I know where he's been. I know he's up to something.

[HE DOESN'T KNOW IF HE SHOULD BELIEVE HIM but it's probably about time that he told him what little he does know.]

Well, all over the place. I don't think he knows I've been looking for him, but he's always on the move. See, sometimes, I check the apartments that are supposed to be empty, and they are. Mostly. But there's little things, like burns or stains on the rugs. Like the kinds that chemicals make.

[It's really more a matter of what constitutes being "done".]

He's already had more than enough time to create gallong of whatever he's working on. We should start getting people prepared for the worst.

You think so? I mean, he is just one guy... [No henchmen to worry about, at least, so that was a plus.] But how do we do that?

He's the Joker. If you're underestimating him, you're dead. [Jason you are not that new.]

I don't know -- don't panic everyone. Just inform the ones who can handle themselves. I can't -- not until I figure out the connection to Slade. I'm almost there...

[See, funny thing about that— But no, wow, what does that Slade guy have to do with anything? Maybe this weird obsessing behavior is getting to him more than he thought.]

[Slade's behind everything ever duh. Robin probably just hasn't shared that very important factoid yet because people always look at him like he's crazy when he brings it up.

He's not crazy, by the way. He's just the only one who understands what's going on here.]
